Week 2, Saturday March 22, 2008

Well, it is hard to update, because I have had no progress. I am still at 201. I do admit that I had a hard time with easter, and all the lovely easter candy. There were a few occasions that I tried and tried and failed. I think that my problem is, was that I was watching the scale, and seeing no change, so I kind of gave up in my mind. The thoughts kept coming back..."you know you want it...you are not losing weight anyway...just eat...just eat." It is hard to keep those thoughts at bay. Another problem that I have is when I cheat a little, I think to myself "you already screwed up, so you might as well make the most of it". I think I am my own worst enemy.

Things I need to do different this week:
  • plan and stick to an exercise routine
  • if I screw up and cheat, keep it small
  • keep positive, and don't give up

Thanks for keeping me motivated. Mackenzie, if you are reading this, I am looking forward to you making a blog. We need each other. I'll support you as much as you are supporting me! Love you all tons!

Jamie

another tip i can give you to help you with this, is to eat! eat every 2 hrs. i try to bring protien shakes and bars, trail mixes, bannanas, string chz, cottage chz and dinner left overs. set your cell phone to beep every two hours to remind you to eat something. if you do this your body constantly burns calories and wont store fat. if you go with out eating for awhile, your body goes into starvation mode, and stores fat. then when you eat again, it stores that fat right away, cause it dosent know when your going to eat again. but if you get your body used to eating every two hours, it wont store fat it will burn it, because it doesnt need it. instead it will make lean muscle. also, this will keep you full, and curb your candy, fast food, cravings. also, protien is the best thing to eat to calm down a sweet tooth. and if you get a sweet craving, eat dark chocolate, or fruit. both are rich in antioxidants and will help with energy, memeory, and dexterity.

What I have heard about Diet Coke is that it contains tons of sodium which makes you retain water weight, the fake sugar in Diet turns to fat. Diet Coke also messes with digestion. It takes away regular BMs! Ha! Also, carbonation creates cellulite. (probably an old wives tale, but not worth the risk)

i have heard the same thing as mackenzie but not about the celulite. rule of thumb. dont eat or drink anything that is made into "diet" like salad dressings, cheese, ice cream, crystal light; stuff like that. the only think i can say is okay would be milk and yogart. but the fat from milk is not bad for you, and the way they take away fat is not bad for you. so in short, if you are taking something that is bad for you, and prossesing it more, its just making it worse for you and harder for your body to digest. plus it tastes like s#$%

When Keith is exercizing, (when we don't have 2 feet of snow outside and not 8degrees outside, and when we get our exercize equipment finally here not at his grandmother's) he has the kids exercize with him and it is a lot of fun for them. If you include your kids on walks or just running around the yard it keeps them busy and you working out. That's what I do.

I heard about not drinking soda to. When I was in High school and going to Karate, our teacher challenged (told us) to quit drinking soda so we could get into better shape. I didn't drink soda for 8 months. I felt great. I felt a lot better trying out for basketball and softball even though I couldn't run and still can't.
My friends lost a lot of weight by just taking out soda. One friend lost I think 20 lbs.

Jamie, this is your cousin Morgan. I think you're doing awesome! We have just about the same goal in mind. I was about 205 pounds when I had my last baby and dropped to 190 and didn't budge from that for 3 months! My ultimate goal is 140 pounds. I finally started a weight loss program with my husband and I've lost 11 pounds in 3 weeks. We are cutting calories and watching what we are eating. I run about 2 miles a day and it isn't hard to do. For me to lose weight I am supposed to have 1,800 calories so I eat about that a day. If I want a treat I eat one but I have to work it into my daily caloric intake. You should try Kashi cookies when you're craving something sweet. They are sooo good and are all natural with flax seed and multi grains in them. I think you're doing great with the weight loss. Just keep your head in the game and I know you can do it. Set small goals and work towards them. Once you hit that, make another small goal.
